Mead FFA Members Attend Nebraska State FFA Convention
The Mead FFA chapter recently visited Lincoln for the 90th State FFA Convention. Some highlights of State Convention were state contests, tours, keynote speakers, general sessions and the State Degree Ceremony.
The Nebraska State FFA Degree is the highest honor the Nebraska FFA Association can bestow upon its members. Receiving the Nebraska State FFA Degree from the Mead FFA Chapter were Miranda Mueller and McKenna Holloway. Miranda also had the honor of being named a State Star in Ag Placement finalist for the strength of her Supervised Agricultural Experience program.
As a chapter, Mead received a Gold rating for the Growing Leaders award and a Gold rating in the National Chapter Award program. Furthermore, our chapter also received first place in the Hall of Chapters competition, sending our barn display to National FFA Convention this October. Ana Leise, Cassie Tweedy, Miranda Mueller, McKenna Holloway, and Abby Miller all helped construct our presentation which included a barn, a video, and pamphlets explaining what Mead FFA is.
Mead FFA Member, Abby Miller also placed first in her proficiency award area. Additionally, Emily Hanson received a silver and Cassie Tweedy received a bronze. The Floriculture team placed fourth including June Johnson, McKenna Holloway, Ana Leise, and Emily Hanson. And Leise, Miranda Mueller, and Abby Miller all finished with a silver in their Leadership Development Events speaking contest. We also had two of our members, Becca Halbmaier and Lily Brestel participated in the FFA choir joining with multiple FFA chapters across the state.
Junior High also attended state convention, and competed well in their competitions. In Ag Literacy Speaking, Collin Konecky placed state runner-up and Laura Kuhr finished with a silver.
