Summer Fun with the Mead FFA Chapter

by Jamie Larsen
August 18, 2009

On June 16th, after an FFA meeting at school, Mead FFA members loaded a school bus and headed to Haymarket park in Lincoln to watch a Saltdogs game for our first outing of the year. Like last year, we went on Wiener Dog Wednesday and were entertained by Wiener dog races after every inning. Another source of entertainment came from the Saltdogs' mascot: Homer the Hound. He gave us all a good laugh when he rifled through Jenna's purse with his mouth. FFA members had a good opportunity to bond not only during the eight innings of the baseball game that we stayed for, but also during the tailgating before the game. The meal consisted of C.C.'s pizza, cinnamon rolls, and brownies, and Mrs. Jensen made sure that everyone had plenty to eat. By the end of the meal, everyone was full. The outing gave old members a chance to meet new members and get everyone excited for more FFA activities. The next summer outing of the Mead FFA chapter was an evening of unlimited Laser Tag on July 16th after the July meeting. Members chased each other through a dark obstacle course with laser guns. This was another great opportunity for current and new members to spend time together relaxing and enjoying the summer. The Mead FFA chapter has a busy fall planning with the first meeting occurring August 20th and a Family FFA Barbeque on August 24th.
