Board of Education Meeting Minutes (2/12/18)

A Regular Meeting of the Board of Education, District 72, Mead Nebraska, was held Monday February 12, 2018 in the Jr.-Sr. High IMC.  President Kuhr called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  The following board members were present: Kevin Hough, Janeen Felty, Nate Mongan, Stephanie Langemeier and Rich Kuhr. Absent Brenda Halbmaier.

  

The following is a condensed version of the minutes.  A complete copy is available for inspection in the Mead Elementary Office.

 

Brenda Halbmaier entered at 7:01.

 

McKenna Holloway and Ana Leise reported on plans for the Senior Sneak.

 

Terry Hickman reported on the accomplishments of 11 students who took part in the Academic Decathlon Regional.

 

President Kuhr appointed the following committees, Americanism: Hough, Mongan, Felty; Negotiations: Langemeier, Halbmaier, Felty; Paulson Scholarship: Kuhr; Wageman Scholarship: Langemeier.

 

Principal PJ Quinn reported on staying healthy, instructional report and parent-teacher attendance.

 

Superintendent Rawson reported on new accounting codes, board retreat, school lunches, preschool, vehicles, surplus property, lunches and board policies.

 

The following other action was taken by unanimous vote: approval of the Minutes, Bills and Financial report, and the Consent agenda with moving instructional report under personnel items; approve the recommendations of the preschool advisory committee with additional requirement of a completed option form for staff living out of the district;  approve replat of the lots on Vine Street; approve Senior Sneak; make exception to policy to allow superintendent to purchase a 10 passenger transit van, approve purchase of 4 new water fountains; approve combining salad, fruit, and vegetable bar together for K-12; recess into closed session at 7:53 out of session at 8:42; recess into closed session at 8:43, out at 9:04; extend an offer to PJ Quinn as K-12 principal for the 2018-2019 contract year.

 

President Kuhr declared the meeting adjourned at 9:17 pm.
