On Saturday, November 14th, the Academic Decathlon team traveled to Daniel J. Gross High School in Omaha to participate in a scrimmage.

Students Ethan Dyas, Michael Klahn, Mary Linscomb, John Popken, Cole Zima and Donald Hanson participated in three subject area tests (Art, Language and Literature, and Mathematics) and the Super Quiz--an oral test over the Social Sciences.

Despite only having 5 of the 6 possible Super Quiz spots filled, the Mead students finished 6th out of 8 Small School division teams and only 3 questions out of 3rd place.

Donald Hanson brought home a Gold medal for his finish in Varsity Level Mathematics.

Mary Linscomb also received a medal as Mead's leading scorer on the three tests combined.

Other students who placed in the top ten on their tests:

Ethan Dyas, 10th Place in Art at the Honors Level.

Mary Linscomb, 8th Place in Mathematics at the Honors Level.

John Popken, 10th Place in Language and Literature, 10th Place in Art and 9th Place in Mathematics at the Scholastic Level.

Cole Zima, 8th Place in Art and 6th Place in Mathematics at the Scholastic Level.

Donald Hanson, 10th Place in Art and 5th place in Language and Literature at the Varsity Level.

The Mead Academic Decathlon team will next compete at the Regional Level, to attempt to qualify for the State Competition, in January.
