Douglas F. Hutmacher Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: March 5

The Mead Educational Foundation will award the $1000 Douglas F. Hutmacher Memorial Scholarship to a student who is graduating from Mead High School.  The student must be attending a trade school/community college trades occupation program.  Students attending a community college in the academic transfer program are not eligible.

Applicants must be graduating from Mead High School, have attended Mead for three years, present good citizenship and character and be able to demonstrate a commitment to attending a trade school/community college to learn a specific trade.

Application packet must include:

1.  an essay detailing why he/she is interested in going to a trade school/community college trades occupation program, which trades will be learned, and how this scholarship will help him/her in the pursuit of his/her lifetime career

2.  at least three letters of recommendation from community members and school personnel that will attest to the student's good citizenship and character (must use more that one source for recommendations)

3.  copy of high school transcript

4.  completed application

The first half of the scholarship shall be made upon verification of enrollment into a post-secondary trade school or community college and the second half of the scholarship shall be made after the completion of the recipient's first term at the college as verified by a copy of the first term's grade report verifying a minimum of a 2.0 GPA for first term and proof of enrollment for a second term as verified by a copy of a class schedule
