Online Resources Available to Students

Students at Mead Public Schools have access to several on-line resources.  All of the resources described below can be accessed from school or home computers.  These can be very helpful for research and other educational purposes.

ESU Databases   
This site actually offers students the choice of five different databases.
Kids InfoBits:  Kids InfoBits meets the research needs of students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. It features a developmentally appropriate, visually graphic interface, a subject-based topic tree search and full-text, age-appropriate, curriculum-related magazine, newspaper and reference content.

InfoTrac:  InfoTrac Newsstand is an innovative Web-based full-text newspaper database which allows users to search articles instantly by title, headline, date, newspaper section or other assigned fields.

Student Resource Center Junior:  Fully integrated database containing thousands of curriculum-targeted primary documents, biographies, topical essays, background information, critical analyses, full-text coverage of over 300 magazines, newspapers, over 20,000 photographs and illustrations, and more than 8 hours of audio and video clips.

Student Resources in Context:  An engaging online experience for those seeking contextual information on a broad range of topics, people, places, and events.
Health and Wellness Resource Center  Alternative medicine-focused magazines, journals, newspapers, definitions, directories, videos, & reference information on: Medicine, Nutrition, Diseases, Public Health, Pregnancy, Herbal remedies, etc.


Worldbook Online  

The complete World Book encyclopedia plus multimedia, web links, periodicals, and more.


Discovery Education each student has username and password

Discovery Education offers a breadth and depth of digital media content that is immersive, engaging and brings the world into the classroom to give every student a chance to experience fascinating people, places, and events. All content is aligned to state standards, can be aligned to custom curriculum, and supports classroom instruction regardless of the technology platform.


Khan Academy  no id or password necessary
If you can’t help your children with math (or other subjects) this is the site for you!  With a library of over 2,700 simple videos covering everything from arithmetic to physics, finance, and history and 255 practice exercises, we're on a mission to help you learn what you want, when you want, at your own pace.

Yay Math


The YAY MATH video project is a free service dedicated to meeting the growing need for math success in a POSITIVE, LIVELY, and CONFIDENCE BOOSTING way.  YAY MATH stands as the premeier online math video lesson series filmed in a live classroom, with real student interaction.  Since its inception, gone are the days of the "I just can't do math" style of thinking.  It's time to evolve.  It's time to re-invent our entire approach to success.
