Academic Honors Continue to Roll in for Mead Students
by Ken Furstenau
A number of Mead students were recently honored for their outstanding achievements in the classroom. These honors were from the Nebraska Schools Activities Association and the East Central Nebraska Conference.
Each year the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) hands out academic all-state awards to those students who achieved a 3.7 GPA in all subjects and who are varsity players or organizational leaders. For the spring season the following Mead students were named to the academic all-state teams: In music, Emily Garcia and Brett Virgl, in girls track Katie Johnson and Jamie Larsen, in baseball Nate Raver, and in boys track, Brett Virgl.
The East Central Nebraska Conference also has an academic award and a number of Mead seniors were honored by the conference. To qualify for the conference award a student must be a senior, must be ranked in the top 25% of their class and maintain an average of 90% or better in all of their classes. The Mead students that were honored include: Emily Garcia, Ashley Moravec, Kristina Johnson, Nate Raver and Brett Virgl.
And finally, the following seniors received recognition from the ECNC Conference for the outstanding scores they received on the ACT test. In order to be recognized by the Conference these seniors had to have a composite score of 26 or above. They are: Rachel Anderson, Samantha Ballard, Shelby Brabec, Emily Garcia, Stephanie Harriman, Kristina Johnson, Nathan Raver and Brett Virgl.
Congratulation to all of these students for the outstanding work they did in the classroom.
