Mead Students Attend ECNC Art Clinic
On March 24, 2010, we had the honor of attending the annual Art Workshop. It was a great day trip with ten students in grades 9-12. We started our day with viewing the student art show that was on display at the Wells Fargo Bank in Lincoln. After a slight detour to Walgreens for some snacks, we made our way to the University of Nebraska Lincoln art studios where we got the opportunity to have a tour of all the art studios given by one of UNL’s current art students. She gave the students an insight into the workings of all the studios, a student’s perspective of her educational experience, and showed us artwork that has been created by current art students attending UNL. After our tour we visited the Sheldon Art Museum on UNL’s campus. We viewed the current show ranging from photography, sculpture, paintings, and video art. We then traveled back to downtown Lincoln where we ate some delicious lunch and relaxed until the workshop. The bus then picked us up and took us to Wesleyan University where we used a low fire glaze to paint mugs. Students were allowed to come up with original designs as well as use stencils to create whatever pattern, design, or picture on their mugs. After a busy afternoon, we loaded up on the bus and headed back to Mead. It was a great day and an awesome field trip! Thanks to all who made it possible.
