Assembly Line vs. Individual Work
by Ken Furstenau
The sixth graders attempted to answer this question after learning about Henry Ford and his Model T. Henry Ford’s assembly line factories were able to create cars for almost half the cost of other cars and produce a car in about a half hour, compared to 12 hours in other factories. The sixth grade class experimented to see if, in making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, an assembly line was really a fast way to go. The results: (With only a few minor incidents) The assembly line groups finished their loaf of bread quicker than the individual group.
