Ak-Sar-Ben Community College Scholarship

Applications are due in the community college financial aid office by March 15, 2010.
THE SCHOLARSHIP:
1. A maximum of 10 scholarships will be awarded for the 2010-2011 academic year.
2. The scholarship is a $1000 award for one-year of full-time study to be applied toward tuition, fees and books and is subject to review by Ak-Sar-Ben at the end of the fall term. The $1000 is paid in one installment, but is distributed in two $500 installments through the college with the second payment dependent upon the student maintaining a 2.5 GPA and continuing to carry at least 12 hours.
3. Recipients must attend one of the community colleges in the Ak-Sar-Ben region.
4. Scholarship recipients are required to be mentored by a college counselor.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE:
To apply for this award you must be:
• able to demonstrate financial need by submitting a complete, current Federal Student Aid Report (SAR)
• accepted for admission or enrolled at an eligible community college
• a United States citizen who is a resident of Nebraska or western Iowa
• carrying a course load of at least 12 hours (or, as high school senior, planning to carry at least a 12-hour course load)
