FFA Officers Prepare for 2009-2010
by Michael Schwab
The 2009-2010 Mead FFA Officer Team has spent several days this summer preparing for an eventful year. The team attended Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) in May with chapter officers from all across the state lead by the Nebraska State FFA Officers. COLT was a valuable experience for the officer team to get together and plan some of their calendar for the year. COLT really focused on improving the skills of each officer in their current position. One Mead FFA member commented on how in-depth they went with their "classes.” Each State Officer had something to relate to with the other officers. The entire Mead FFA chapter will benefit from this training opportunity as the officers bring back valuable skills to use this year. The Mead FFA officer team had their officer retreat from the 27th to the 28th of June this year. The Officers toured Memorial Stadium, Morrill Hall Museum, and the East Campus of UNL. They participated in activities such as swimming, tennis, golf, fishing and they also relaxed and watched movies. During this retreat, the officers created their calendar for the year, set goals, developed a team mission statement, and reviewed their expectations for each officer. The retreat was a great way for the team to bond and plan for the year. These eight individuals have worked hard this summer to prepare for a great year.
