Local Musician makes National Chorus

by Kori Jensen

A sea of 55,000 blue jackets will watch as the spotlight shines on Emily Garcia and the National FFA Chorus during National FFA Convention in Indianapolis this fall. She was selected with about 100 other FFA members from around the country to perform with the FFA honor choir. Emily submitted an audition tape and written application in May and was notified in August of her acceptance. The choir will perform several times during the 82nd National FFA Convention adding excitement, energy, and entertainment to the national meeting. Emily will arrive in Indianapolis for her first rehearsal on October 17th and perform October 21-24 before returning home on October 25th.
Emily Garcia is the daughter of Toni Roberts and Scott Garcia. She has performed with the State FFA honor choir for the past three years. This year she is a senior and serving as the President of the Mead FFA chapter.
