2008-2009 Full of Success

Educators often forget to celebrate and share the accomplishments of a school year. At the end of the year, teachers met in small groups to create lists of successes from the 2008-2009 school year. These accomplishments appear below:
ACT scores continue to improve
Reading comprehension scores on standardized tests improved for
most students
Statewide writing results exceed state averages
STARS assessment scores exceed state goals
Great teaching and learning atmosphere
Positive relationships among students, teachers,
administration
% of homework being finished is high
New plan for vocabulary instruction
New math textbooks for Math 7, Math 8, Algebra 1, Geometry
Revised course requirements for math
Accelerated Reader program has increased number of books read
Several Academic All-State awards
Softball state championship
Basketball state championship
Track success: 5 school records broken, 7 State qualifiers, State
gold medal winner
State Cross Country; State bronze medal winner
State football playoffs
State Speech qualifiers (5)
Students selected for Doane Honor Choir, NMEA All-State Choir
Students selected for UNO Honor Band, Class D All-State Band
Choir’s superior rating and overall performance; student
performance of National Anthem; pep band’s performance
FFA success; national Supervised Agricultural Experience Grants
for FFA
Destination Imagination team qualified for State competition
School spirit at its best
