Wilkommen in Mead
by Brittany Sterup and Cassandra Parsons
Wilkommen in Mead. Wir freuen uns euch hier zu haben. If you’re still reading, you are probably confused. That is German for “Welcome to Mead. We are glad to have you.” This year, Mead got the privilege to have two German Foreign Exchange students. We have decided to take a closer look into their American life and see how they are enjoying it.
Junior, Kathi Dippon has really been enjoying her stay in America. What she enjoys most about America is Mead because it has so much school spirit. She really liked her first semester, especially during Homecoming. The one thing she hasn’t been fond of coming home so late from basketball practice. Her favorite class here is Art as it can “be creative”.
Teresa Tumbragel, junior, is having a completely different American and school experience. In school, Teresa enjoys the teachers, and her favorite class is “Advanced P.E., duh! Gym Class Book Club!” because “what is said in the locker room, stays in the locker room.” The one thing she likes better about Germany is that they get out of school at 1:15 and have more breaks. Outside of school, Teresa really enjoys the fact that Americans get free refills on drinks, unlike in Germany. One thing that she said she will never forget is going to Olive Garden and the movie Twilight with her Gym Class Book Club: Cassie Parsons, Rebecca Murray, Brittany Sterup, and Catherine Coady.
Overall, they have had a very good first semester and plan to make the most of the rest of their time here.
