Mead Students Awarded SAE Grants

by Brittany Sterup and Cassandra Parsons

The FFA Organization selected Matthew Rozic to receive an ISK Biosciences grant in the amount of $1000 to initiate or improve Matthew’s career development experience known as a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). They also selected Michael Schwab to receive an SAE Career Pathways grant in the amount of $500 to initiate or improve his career development experience as well. To be eligible, the student must be between the ages of 14-17 at time of application, have an SAE and be an FFA member. Matthew and Michael were both selected from hundreds of applications nationwide.

Schwab plans his career to be along the lines of Agronomy. Michael believes this grant will expand his business. Rozic also plans to go into Agronomy. He plans to use his grant to help his produce stand, and his quality of production. Matt would also like a greenhouse for his family.

Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha (ISK) Bioscience sponsored Matthew’s award, and Hobart Welders and Tractor Supply Co. sponsored Michael’s; both grants were a special project of the National FFA Foundation.

The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of the students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Congratulations to both recipients.
