Saving Lives One Unit at a Time
Students, staff, and community members could be seen sporting colorful arm bands on Friday, April 11. Mead’s National Honor Society invited the Community Blood Bank to set up their mobile unit outside Mead High School and despite the cold weather, many donors showed up ready to give the gift of life. Not only were donors helping save lives, but they were also giving scholarship money to a Mead senior. The Community Blood Bank gives $10.00 in scholarship money per unit of blood that is donated.
A huge thank you goes out to all those who donated; they included Dan Simon, June Moline, Annie Schoenherr, Delores Rasmussen, Scott Selko, Lacey Whitaker, Jason Armbrust, Ally Selko, Jayne Taylor, Terral Brabec, Adam Taylor, Brittani Brabec, Mariella Giugno, Robert Hartgrave, Jill Janke, Josh Charles, Patrick Coady, Marilyn Jensen, Kelly Cooper, Judy Rasmus, Ashley Berner, Tim Hickman, Ethan Wellman, Andrea Schmidt, Amber Thilliander, SPC Chris Herndon, Jamie Divoll, Marcia Lamberson, Dawn Moser, Deb Virgl, and Valerie Reiman. This blood drive was a great success thanks to all of the donors and the professionals working for the Community Blood Bank; the National Honor Society is planning to host more blood drives during the 2008-09 school year.
