Rising to the Occasion

On the night of Saturday the 9th. The Mead Raiders hosted the Elmwood-Murdock Knights. In the first half the Knights shot a pretty good 52% from the field while the Raiders seemed to struggle a bit by shooting only a 31% from the field. The low shooting percentage for Raiders lead them into a ten point deficit at half time with the Knights leading 23 to13. Coming out of half time the Knights scored two quick baskets on the Raiders but the Raiders withstood the storm. The Raiders quickly answered back with hitting four three pointers. However it was Nate Raver’s three, which tied the game at 29. Mead out scored the Knights 16 to 6 in the third. In the fourth Mead out scored the Knights 21 to 11. The Raider’s shot an amazing 14-17 from the free throw line in the fourth to seal the deal and pull off yet another win for the Raiders. The Raiders also shot 18-21 from the free throw line during the entire game. The shooting percentages for the second half were 64% made by Mead from the field including shooting 5-7 from three-point land and Elmwood-Murdock shot 25% from the field. Johnson lead the raiders with nineteen points, Moline added ten, Charles had nine, Taylor with six, and Coady and Raver finished with three points a piece. The Raiders also played great defense in the second half by only allowing seventeen points.  The Raiders’ next appearance will be against Osceola on the 15th of February.
