Pennies For Patients
by Allysia Selko
The Mead High School National Honor Society will be hosting their annual Pennies for Patients on February 4th, through February 22nd. Kindergarten through 12th grade will be competing against one another in raising as much money as they can for the cause. There will be buckets in each elementary room for the kids to place their money in and buckets placed in the font of the office for all the junior/senior high students to put their money. The class that earns the most money will receive an ice cream sundae party. We will also be competing with other schools around us such as Ashland and Wahoo; the top school to bring in the most money for Leukemia will receive a pizza party for the whole school. Within the school the goal is to collect $500.00 or more, the money will go to the leukemia research foundation and also to the families with leukemia. But there is a twist, Ms. Moser, the school guidance counselor, has announced today, January 16, 2008, that if the school brings in $600.00, she will dye her hair pink for a whole day!
